FIKA CHAPTER IN BOOK ON SWEDISH FOOD HERITAGE
On the 21st of September, 2023, the Heritage Academy celebrated the release of its second book on food heritage at Gothenburg Museum of Natural History, entitled “Matarvets trådar”. As a symbol of celebration, it had to be Prinsesstårta!
One of the chapters, authored by Stina Almroth, drew attention to Fika as a phenomenon that for non-Swedes is exotic. Comparing the Swedish everyday ritual of Fika to the Japanese Tea Ceremony , she asked: Could Swedish Fika become a symbol for Sweden, and play a role in nation branding and destination marketing?
Every author was asked to include a recipe. Stina included her recipe for Kanelbullar, cinnamon buns.
